Acer reveals Android netbooks to get Windows too
Acer has revealed that the Android-based netbooks it announced it would be launching during the third quarter of this year will in fact be dual-boot systems.
Acer chairman JT Wang said the netbooks will ship with both Google’s Android operating system – primarily designed as a mobile platform – and Microsoft Windows XP.
It seems that Acer aren’t convinced that consumer demand is there for Android on a mini-notebook. DigiTimes reports:
“Wang pointed out that the dual-OS strategy is much safer for Acer since consumer acceptance of the Android platform is unclear for the time being”.
However, Wang did not rule out the possibility of launching Android-only models if there is enough demand from telecom providers.
